GEOWULF HIDEAWAY

For those in the Northern hemisphere, December might seem like an odd time of year for sunshiney dream-pop, but in the context of Geowulf’s forthcoming album Great Big Blue, out February 16th 2018 via 37 Adventures, it makes perfect sense. Combining slacker-pop guitar and psychedelic beats, ‘Hideaway’ is a romantic daydream with a twist. As the London-based Australian duo explain: “Hideaway is a favourite in our live set. The song is about feeling like you’ve been completely transparent with someone only to realise they haven’t truly let you in.” The transparency is reflected in the floating vocals - “oh dear god, what are your frightened of? You never opened up; all you do is hide away” - while the intensity of emotion is felt through The Flaming Lips-esque textures of this expansive song. Perfectly composed beach pop for the disillusioned lover. - HT
